Hardangervidda National Park
Hardangervidda is Northern Europe's largest high mountain plateau. You'll see extended plains in the east and more of an alpine character in the west. Hardangerjøkulen is one of Norway's largest glaciers, and Hårteigen is visible from most of the plateaus open landscape.
Hallingskarvet National Park
More than 300 million years ago, long before the last ice age, a massive mountain ridge was shoved up over the plain. Today, Hallingskarvet stands as a comfortable landmark and separates Hardangervidda and Skarvheimen.
Skarvheimen offers Aurlandsdalen, the Navvies' Road (Rallarvegen), Reineskarvet, the Hemsedal Montains and Hallingskarvet. The eastern part of southern Norway meets western Norway at Skarvheimen in a beautiful mountain landscape.
The well-known valley Aurlandsdalen, was once one of the main routes between the eastern and western parts of Norway.
Hardangerjøkulen (1860 masl) lies like a snow-covered dome between Finse (1222 masl) to the north and Hardangervidda in the south.
